Travel Day Must Haves

Belt Bag

A belt bag is extremely convenient so you aren’t digging in your back-pack for everything. When I travel, I keep my phone, license, passports, credit cards, Kleenex, and wipes in here as those are the items I need most often.

Bose Headphones (for adults)

My husband and I have learned over the years that with long flights we much prefer nice over the ear headphones rather than ear buds. The noise cancellation is also a great option. These headphones go on sale regularly and are great options for Christmas/birthday gifts.

Beats Headphones (for kids)

For Christmas one year, we finally bought our kids good headphones. There are many cheap kid headphone options, but we found that our kids thought they were uncomfortable when wearing for multiple hours and they broke easily. Additionally, most “kid” branded headphones limit the volume, which isn’t a big deal when using at home or in the car, but on the plane that meant they couldn’t hear their videos very well. For younger kids, I do recommend going to Best Buy and having your kid try on headphones to make sure they will fit. Also note that if you kid has earrings, and over the ear option will be more comfortable.

Beats Wireless Headphones

Airfly Duo

This allows for you to use a headphone’s Bluetooth option. We found this was much more convenient than having cords as the cords would get wrapped up, my kids couldn’t lay down, or you were climbing over & under them trying to go to the bathroom. You will need one for each headphone set, I recommend pairing them ahead of time and labeling them for each person. We store these in the headphone cases.

Portable Charger

It never fails that you forget to charge something the night before, or your phone battery gets low with all the travel day usage. This is also really good for the total trip, especially for a place like Disney World where you are using your phone a lot throughout the day.

Wet Ones

We always bring multiple packs of wet ones. These are not disinfecting wipes, but I prefer these as I mainly use them for my children’s hands (hello nasty chip fingers) and disinfecting wipes are not meant to be used on hands/faces. Additionally I like that Wet Wipes has unscented options.

Refillable Water Bottle

We always travel with refillable water bottles. Most airports have a refillable water stations and that is the first thing we do after going through security. I recommend something that closes completely, not a flip down straw as they will leak when you store under the seat. This Corkcicle mug is currently my favorite adult option as it works for cold and hot drinks and it has yet to leak. TIP Once you get in the air, make sure you unscrew the cap to release the pressure – otherwise you or your kids will be splashed in the face with a lot of water.

Other Misc. Items (but still helpful)

Here are some additional items to remember

  • Kleenex travel packs
  • Gum
  • Pens – especially if you have to fill out customs paperwork
  • All the cords – we put all the cords in a little pouch to keep them together and not tangled)
  • Snacks – we let our kids pick out a snack at the airport, but we also pack other snacks ahead of time. Lunchables are really great for planes
